This volume comprises the collected writings of Ovey, the Principal of Oak Hill College, who died tragically young in 2017. The title reflects the need for a theology that is ‘just right’ for both local and global concerns. The writings are uncompromisingly evangelical throughout and include, for example, firm and conservative lines on sexual orientation and penal substitution. Some readers will therefore find most of the essays at least partly disquieting. The book also includes the text of three lectures which Ovey gave to meetings of the Global Anglican Futures Conference (GAFCON), and one can reasonably ask what the Principal of an Anglican theological college was doing by encouraging and endorsing the gatherings of such a potentially schismatic body. Nonetheless, I am sure this collection will be valued by many traditionalists, and it does represent the face of academic evangelicalism in a dynamic and readable manner. It includes glowing appreciations of Ovey’s ministry and his funeral oration from Archbishop Peter Jensen.
