The authors present their experience of life & church with uncomfortable examples of careless, thoughtless exclusion and discrimination, dismissive and judgemental experiences that those ‘on the edge’ of society endure, but particularly those with visible and invisible disabilities. Their stories are powerful because they relate to lived experience with which we can empathise. They call us to recognise a shared spectrum of accessibility, in church and in life, and challenge our preconceptions of wholeness and spiritual ‘health’, and the difference between ‘healing’ and ‘cure’. They propose a more open theology than that which those with accessibility challenges commonly face, a factor which has caused some to leave the church. They provide an outline for an incarnational theology of radical inclusion, that of the broken, wounded, disabled and resurrected Christ. The book has been published in ‘Clear Print’, which enhances readability for those with visual impairment, a practical example of accessibility.
